A Review of Ban Lines

Second Island is happy to offer peaceful, beautiful land to it’s clients and we try to stay away from personal decisions regarding our residents’ land.  However, recently we have noticed an increase in the use of general ban lines banning everybody except certain allowed persons from residents’ land parcels.

Second Island STRONGLY discourages the use of banlines because if two parcels are close together, it can create an undesireable effect for the neighbor of the person banning everyone from their parcel.

Please review this section of Second Island’s covenant:

Ban lines are not welcome! They block all the way and stop other people from transiting through the Island. Instead of using the ‘access’ tool, we encourage you to use the ‘ban’ one. Using ban, you will only block access from unwanted people, when using access totally blocks entrance from people to your territory, creating lots of difficulties in the navigation, within the islands;  Very aggressive Security Systems are not allowed in Second Island regions.  Security Systems that remove (teleport) users without previous warning are considered aggressive and not allowed.  You must configure your system to give a warning and wait at least 10 seconds before taking action.”

We ask that due to a wave of recent complaints from residents, that you do NOT use general banning methods using your land controls.  Instead, we ask that you try using a security system that fits the description of allowed systems in the covenant.  We know that it is unfair to ask residents of Second Island to use a system without offering one to them, so, Sparkym Klees (Second Island’s Security Manager) has been able to find a good security that we can offer to you for free!  We will be distributing these in the coming days and if you do not receive one, please IM Kaio Obviate, Megz Ling, Cezar Boram or Sparkym Klees for a copy.

We hope you take your neighbor’s comfort into consideration when making the decision of who is allowed on your land.  Many residents enjoy flying around their home sim in vehicles or just as their avatars.  Some residents also enjoy a drive around their sims in automobiles.  These are all things we hope our residents can continue to enjoy while they are living on Second Island sims.  Remember, your neighbors are paying tiers as well, so it’s highly unlikely they are interested in using your land while you’re not around.

We appreciate your cooperation in this matter and we would like to avoid changing the covenant to add a “No Ban Lines” rule.  Please take the time to try the security system we can offer to you before setting banlines.

Thank you and have a wonderful week!
